After his marriage with Louise, Art lived common-law with Bertha Irene Emmel (nee Thornton).
Bertha was born October 11, 1916 and is great-grand-daughter of then-popular Toronto Mayor Francis Henry Medcalf (1864-1866; 1874-1875) (Francis Henry Medcalf > Mary Jane Sophia Medcalf > Violet Cowan > Bertha Irene Thornton). Bertha was first married to Bill Emmel. She passed away at her home after a short illness on Sunday, June 4, 1989. She is interred in Parklawn Cemetery, Toronto.

1960, November 1: Art died at the age of 55 in Toronto from Bronchio-Pneumonia. His marital status at the time of his death is listed as divorced [4]. Art's funeral director was J.P. Thompson, and he is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetary in Toronto.
